Mix tile board adhesive and spread it at the back of the tile board panel. Make use of a 3/16” notched trowel to remove the excessive adhesive and to create ridges. Press the tile board panel on the wall where it is to be fixed.
Affix the beadboard panel over the tile wall, placing it against the wall so it rests on top of the baseboard molding and then straighten it so it lays flat on the wall. Press firmly against the panel all over the surface to help the adhesive make proper contact with the tile.
But the savings go beyond that, since authentic ceramic tile has other associated costs such as thinset, grout, cement backer board, and grout sealer, all of which drive up the total project cost. Generally, the cost of installing tileboard will be about a quarter of the cost of installing true ceramic tile.
Tile installation, however, is a long process that involves laying each tile individually in place with mortar and then grouting the entire surface for protection. A faster option is to install tile board, which is generally made of wood painted and scored to look like tile.

An alternative to tiles, tile boards come in larger, 8-foot-by-4-foot panels that you can install more easily and quickly. They resemble tiles in appearance, and the ones made for the bathroom resist moisture well.
